Treatments

We offer a wide range of treatments, including Ovulation Induction, IUI, IVF and ICSI. We will always offer a personalised treatment for you, depending on your situation. Once you have undergone all the diagnostic tests and pre-treatment screening we will have the information we need to help you choose the most suitable treatment for you.

About the treatments we offer

We offer a wide range of treatments, including Ovulation Induction, IUI, IVF and ICSI.  We will always offer a personalised treatment for you, depending on your situation.

In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)

During IVF, we fertilise your eggs outside your body in our lab. You may have been offered IVF for a variety of reasons, for example, because of damage to your fallopian tubes or endometriosis.

Intra-cytoplasmic Sperm Injection

You may be offered ICSI as part of your IVF treatment if sperm numbers and/or activity are very low. For the most part, your IVF treatment with ICSI will follow the standard pattern. The difference is in how we handle the eggs and sperm after collection

Egg freezing

Egg freezing is an option for women who wish to preserve their fertility and give themselves options for the future. At Cambridge IVF we can collect your eggs, freeze them and store them safely until you are ready to use them to try for a baby.

Embryo transfer

The embryo transfer is the process by which we pass a narrow catheter through your cervix to place one or two embryos resulting from your IVF or ICSI treatment into your uterus to allow implantation to occur.

Vitrification of blastocysts

If there is at least one good quality blastocyst (advanced day five or six day embryo) remaining at the end of your treatment cycle, we will suggest cryopreservation or ‘freezing’ of these embryos.

Microsurgical laser assisted hatching

Microsurgical assisted hatching involves making a small tear in the zona pellucida (shell) around the embryo with a laser.

Ovulation induction (OI)

We may offer you the option of ovulation induction if you do not ovulate regularly. The aim is to encourage your ovaries to develop the follicles needed to produce and release eggs.

Sperm freezing

Sperm storage involves the freezing of sperm and storing them at ‘ultra-cold’ temperatures. We use liquid nitrogen to store your sperm at a temperature of -196°C.

Intra-uterine insemination

You may be offered IUI if we can’t find a medical reason for your infertility. We may also suggest this as an appropriate treatment if you have problems with sex or are uncomfortable with the idea of IVF, for example on ethical grounds.
